Indonesia is one of the leading nations in bonsaiart today. Last Sunday I was invited to the opening of the NATIONAL BONSAI & SUISEKI EXHIBITION 2011 in Jakarta. It takes place in Gandaria City from 6 till 13 March 2011. There I had the opportunity to meet many bonsaiartists from Indonesia and VIPs from Japan, Korea, Taiwan and the Philippines as well, too. Japan has sent a group of representatives with the chairman of ASPAC Takamatsu 2011, Yukihiko Konishi. Sitting in the first row together with all this VIPs I really felt very honored but a bit insecured too.
306 Bonsai and 147 Suiseki are displayed, some has been chosen by a jury to got an award. Budi Sulistyo, chairman and organizer of this interesting exhibition, kept his calmness all the time and so the event was a great success. Budi also takes the responsibility for the beautiful catalog which shows the great variety of tropical bonsai and amazing suiseki in Indonesia.
